analysis on own masthead

this is my design for my masthead of my magazine, i have called it 'AMP' this resembles the idea and characteristics of the magazine, for example my magazine look at local bands from potential bands becoming big and bands which are well know thought the south of England. amp came from the idea that in a band there would be a guitarist which would use the guitar with a amplifiers which amplifies the sound given from the guitar. the colour is plan and simple but the text style has the use of ware, this can be a effect of which looks smashed and cut. this gives the impression this is a rock magazine. This phrase also can stand for the type of music it represents (Alternative, Mainstream & Punk).

Masthead

THE FLY is free music magazine which in term the word represents how the magazine is used. it is to be carried everywhere as its A5 (14.8 x 21 (cm)). this is because it small and its easy to be able to carry around, this is where in terms FLY is is used as a deffinaition that the magazine gets around quickly and are everywhere, The image on the masthead represents a fly (inset) which is also has the same meaning as 'THE FLY'. the colour scheme has beeen used to be plain and simple. although this may not seem effective, the image has given the magazine its high amount of circulation. This is because the image has become the icon to spot the magazine.

Masthead

KERRANG! is to be seen as word which is spelt to be as it would sound, this is called a onomatopoeia. with word is to be make as a hard strike to the strings on a electric guitar, this gives the attitude of the magazine's Masthead. The font use in this Masthead, is in capital letters with a routh looking background inside the writing, this is things such as black stripes through the writing, this can reprsent strings, or to give it attitude, this could be seen as cuts or cracks through the writing as it had been smashed. the '!' is to represent how this word is to be said, loud and aggresive, this indicates how the magazine should be seen as.

He wakes up too late to have breakfast, so on the way gets something i.e. a baguette. At school he always listens to music in his free time, usually different various categories of rock and dubstep. A subject he has taken in the past was music which has inspired him to play the guitar & learn to play simple drums referring to which they choose. today he still plays guitar as a hobby for when he is at school or at home. when he finishes school and goes home, he has to finish his work from school and completes homework set, whilst listening to music. Once all work has been completed. he will play his guitar for fun and practise, it also helps him learn new songs for which he plays with his friends at school. interest are music, instruments, girls, alcohol, smokes if nessesary i.e. parties gathering, sports & haning fun.

The New Musical Express (better known as the NME) is a popular music magazine in the United Kingdom, published weekly since March 1952. It was the first British paper to include a singles chart, in the 14 November 1952 edition. In the 1970s it became the best-selling British music magazine. During the period 1972 to 1976 it was particularly associated with gonzo journalism, then became closely associated with punk rock through the writing of Tony Parsons and Julie Burchill.
The later part of the 1960s saw the paper chart and the continued dominance of British groups of the time. During this period some sections of pop music began to be designated as Rock, bands like the Rolling Stones and the Beatles where being printed into most front covers. The paper became engaged in a sometimes tense rivalry with its fellow weekly music paper Melody Maker; however, NME sales were healthy with the paper selling as many as 200,000 issues per week, making it one of the UK's biggest sellers
In 1970’s the amount of issues being sold plummeted down to 60,000 and began to find itself on the verge of closure by there own publish house ipc
In 1981 the NME released the influential C81 cassette tape in conjunction with Rough Trade Records, available to readers by mail order at a low price. The tape featured a number of then up-and-coming bands, including Aztec Camera, Orange Juice, Linx and Scritti Politti, as well as a number of more A second tape, C86, was released in 1986.

The average reader for NME is around the age of 24, mainly male in which refer to as students or in there first career.
